Explanations

Natural ventilation

Also called self-draft ventilation, the formula applies at an average ambient temperature of 20˚C and a maximum of 1000m above sea level.

Forced ventilation

The formula applies at an average ambient temperature of 20°C.

Idle losses

Refers to the losses that become heat during idle operation of the transformer.

Load losses

Refers to the losses that become heat when the transformer has a load at 120°C.

Height difference

Refers to the height difference between the air intake and the emission in the room in question.

Hole area

The total hole area that is necessary for both inlet and outlet of the air in order to be able to get cooling through natural ventilation.

Formula

Natural ventilation: Natural ventilation
Forced ventilation: Forced ventilation
